The Confluence Story
TASTE OF MZANSI
Confluence was created to celebrate the remarkable diversity of South African food. From the flavours of the Cape and Karoo to Durban curries, traditional potjiekos, shisa nyama and familiar favourites with a distinctly Mzansi character, our menu brings the country’s culinary stories together in one welcoming place.

This approach allows us to respect traditional South African cooking while giving it a fresh Confluence expression. Every dish is prepared to tell a story—whether it is a familiar childhood favourite, a regional speciality or something a visitor to South Africa is tasting for the first time.
Located in the heart of Melville, Johannesburg, Confluence is a place where people, cultures and flavours meet. We invite you to gather around our tables, share good food and discover South Africa—one plate at a time.
At the heart of our kitchen is a commitment to cooking from scratch. We choose fresh South African produce wherever possible and take the time to prepare our food with care. We smoke our own meats, make our own biltong and allow traditional flavours to develop naturally—without rushing the process.
Our impressive wood-fired oven is about far more than pizza. While it produces beautifully crisp, flame-kissed pizzas, we also use its heat for low-and-slow cooking. Potjies simmer gently, and richly spiced curries develop the deep flavour that makes our bunny chow so comforting and memorable.
